Financial planning and advising is an underappreciated art form that Joseph Jayne has, without a doubt, mastered. Right from the start, Joseph has continually taken his career to new heights and challenged himself to push past his limits to reach his true potential. Located in Amherst, Massachusetts, Mr. Jayne is currently the Executive Director of Gift Planning for the University of Massachusetts where he’s putting his decades of experience to a great cause.
After receiving his diploma from Northeastern University, Joseph immediately dove into the workforce in the role of Executive Assistant and Financial Consultant. It was clear he was destined for greatness after opening 150 new accounts in just under six months and forging strong business relationships that were beneficial to the company. In 2000 Joseph Jayne accepted a more challenging position as Assistant Vice President and Financial Advisor with UBS Financial Services where he continued to prove his worth. Mr. Jayne managed over $20 million in fee-based client assets, generated over $200,000 in insurance sales revenue, and continued to bring new clients into the fold.
His talents didn’t go unnoticed in the business and financial industries. Bank of America Investment Services offered him the Senior Vice President and Financial Advisor position which he accepted. It was in this position that Joseph really explored what he could accomplish. As a result, he won the outstanding production award 12 times during his 5-year tenure with Bank of America. In addition to pushing forward in his career, Mr. Jayne believed in bringing others with him to the top. He frequently mentored junior partners on important aspects including asset growth, estate planning, and life insurance to ensure not only his success but that of his colleagues.
In 2009, Joseph joined Ameriprise Financial Inc as Managing Director where he revolutionized the financial planning services offered. While some businessmen coast when they reach a certain level, Joseph continued to provide outstanding services. He managed over $80 million in client assets, generated $600,000 in annual revenue, and frequently spoke at seminars on financial planning to help others in the industry.
By 2015, Mr. Jayne was ready for a new challenge. He took his financial expertise and switched gears to gift planning for the University of Massachusetts as Executive Director of Gift Planning. In this role, Joseph can use his talent for cultivating relationships and unparalleled experience in the financial industry to advise alumni donors on complex gift giving assets. Mr. Jayne is also responsible for developing the university’s gift acceptance policy, structuring the marketing budget and gift campaigns and aids in the proposal process for potential donors.
When he’s not busy transforming financial plans, Joseph is an avid guitarist who loves to practice playing jazz and jazz fusion. He also has an adventurous spirit and can often be found playing tennis or skiing depending on the season. Even during his time off, continuing his education is very important to Mr. Jayne. He recently earned his Master’s degree in Public Policy while working full time and raising his two children.
