1. Andrew Carnegie

Andrew Carnegie is known for his success in steel manufacturing. His net worth was around $380 million, equivalent to $309 billion today. He was born to a lower-class family in Scotland, and his family was close to starving when they emigrated to Allegheny, Pennsylvania. He started working at a young age, and then he started investing. Eventually, he had investments in oil and steel, and he wrote his first book. He retired at the age of 66 as the world’s richest man. He became a philanthropist and gave back to others in society. He gave away as much as 95% of his fortune before he died.

2. Steve Jobs

Best known for founding Apple, Steve Jobs had a net worth of $6.1 billion. He was adopted, and he went to work for a computer company, Atari, after high school. He decided that he wanted to assemble computers and sell them for a profit. He partnered with Steve Wozniak to found Apple in 1976. Apple became publicly traded within four years, and Jobs was forced out in 1985. He founded another company, NeXT computers, and in 1986, he bought a company that was renamed Pixar Animation. When Apple acquired NeXT computers, he became the CEO again, and Disney bought Pixar. 

3. Henry Ford

Henry Ford is best known as an automotive manufacturer who founded the Ford motor company. His net worth was $1.1 billion. He is one of the people who made automobiles accessible to everyone. He had dyslexia, and he learned how to repeat actions until he got them right. He founded the Detroit Automobile Company in 1899; he moved on to build the Cadillac Automobile company. They changed the name to the Ford Motor Company, which generated around $156 billion in 2019.
